About the Potter

Raquel Coburn

Raquel graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in ceramics in 2018.

​

She has been signing her pots with a "Q" since 2012. The "Q" matches her nickname that all her close friends and family call her, Quel.  As she makes these beautiful one of a kind pots, she sends a heartfelt piece of herself with along with it. 

​

In 2016 Quel took a study abroad to Jingdezhen China. Jingdezhen is where porcelain and the classic "blue and white" designs originated from. 

​

Quel also took a lot of interest in the Victorian Language of Flowers, where flowers were once used to pass secret messages.  

​

Many of these experiences add to the techniques used in making her pots. Her main drive for making pottery is the joy of creating beautiful and functional pieces of artwork that can be used for years to come!
